Chamonix French Alps Trip

Trip dates: August 13 – 20.

Scroll to bottom to see itinerary.

Mind-blowing views of French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Hiking near glaciers, around Alpine lakes, and through the majestic mountain passes.

Chamonix-Mont Blanc attracts hikers from around the world. It is the third most visited natural site in the  world. The Mont-Blanc chain is 30 km long by 10 km wide, 28 summits of more than 4,000 m, the rooftop of Europe (4,810 m), set on the French, Italian and Swiss borders. Thanks to the ski lifts and gondolas, the capital of mountaineering allows us to reach the high mountains and glacier lakes easily, so we can use all our energies to see more incredible vistas as we hike through forests, across streams, pastures, waterfalls and alpine flower beds.

Aiguille Du Midi

Ascend by Cable Car to Summit (3842 meters), behold the magical views from the panoramic, peak terraces looking out at the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland. Our day includes a short, scenic walk to Lac Bleu & Picnic at the Lake.

Le Tour

Hear the tinkle of the cowbells on the Col De Balme mountain pastures, take in the splash of color in the flowers dotting the mountainside, follow the trail as you actually walk in the Swiss Alps and the French Alps all on the same day!

La Flegere

The classic “Balcony” Walk, on a trail taking us from one mountain station to the next, all the time in full view of the glistening Mont Blanc, the perennial White Mountain!

Le Brevent

Stopping at the Paragliding Takeoff Platform at the base of Mont Brevent!

Mer De Glace and Ice Caves

As the Mer De Glace (Sea of Ice), one of Europe’s longest glaciers recedes at an alarming pace, we can see, feel and actually hear the dripping of the melting ice as we enter the ice caves that cut into the glacier.

Glacier des Bossons

Chairlift and short walk to a Chalet overlooking the glacier, where we see calving – large chunks of ice breaking off from the glacier.

Les Gorges de la Diosaz at Servoz

On a scenic gorge and waterfall walk, we hear the might of the waters crashing down against the rocks, we feel the spray on our faces as we cross the bridges over the falls.

Lac Des Gaillands

Take some time and space at two quiet lakes that are only a five minute walk from our accommodations.

Rafting on the L’Arve River

Rafting down the river is fun, exciting, and an experience you will keep telling your friends about!

Optional Activities:

Bicycling in Chamonix Valley, Horseback Riding through alpine forests, Early morning runs, Swimming at the Sports Centre (indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and hammam), Tennis, Squash, Ice Skating, Bowling, Cinema, Alpine Museum, Shopping.
